What usually goes wrong, and what we do about it.
Cabinets are the longest-lead item in a kitchen and the one everything else is measured from. Order them late and the job stalls; order them before the walls are verified and they do not fit. We field-measure after framing, lock the drawings, and template counters off the installed boxes.
We work with Portland-area custom shops for painted inset and walnut work, and with semi-custom lines when budget matters more than a specific door profile. Either way, the layout comes from how you cook, not a catalog.

Custom or semi-custom?
Custom when you want a specific wood, an inset door or an odd size; semi-custom when budget or schedule matters more. We price both for most kitchens.
How far ahead do cabinets need to be ordered?
Six to twelve weeks for custom, four to eight for semi-custom. We order right after framing is verified.
Do you install cabinets I bought elsewhere?
Occasionally, inside a larger project. We will not install boxes we have not measured for.
Can you match existing cabinets for an addition?
Often, through the same local shops; door profile and finish can usually be matched.
